Silently uninstall Symantec Antivirus Corp Ed 10.x

You may need to remove Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition 10.x from all your end-user desktops in the event you are rolling out a new AntiVirus product.   There are two different ways of achieving the desired results and I’ll outline both of them below.

FIRST you need to make sure you have disabled the Symantec Antivirus Corp Ed Client Uninstall Password.

Silently and Remotely uninstall Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition 10.x via remote command line:

Open CMD as administrator and enter the following command (you will need to modify the \\computer_name):
psexec \\computer_name MsiExec.exe /norestart /q/x {BA4B71D1-898E-4306-AE87-8BA7A596F0ED} REMOVE=ALL

*Note you can enter in multiple computer names separated by comma’s or a “*” for all computers in the domain.

*Note you will need to specify your specific product code for your version of Symantec, see my instructions How to Find the Symantec Client product code

OR Silently uninstall Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition 10.x via Startup script:

Note: Startup scripts are preferred over logon scripts because startup scripts will ‘run as administrator’ and logon scripts do not.

Add the following lines to your startup script (startup scripts can be specified via a GPO):
c:\windows\system32\msiexec.exe /passive /q/x {AD8A1013-4E46-4E02-85C2-3168C3328432} REMOVE=ALL REBOOT=ReallySuppress

“%ProgramFiles%\Symantec\LiveUpdate\LSETUP.EXE” /U /Q

*Note you must specify the specific product code for your version of Symantec, see my instructions Find the Symantec Client product code
